Artist talk between Bea Szenfeld and Karin Kakan Hermansson

On Saturday, August 24, the ongoing exhibition Haute Papier will also be added with new works such as Szenfeld's first major art installation At Least We Have Dogs.

On the occasion of the artist and designer Bea Szenfeld's exhibition Haute Papier, Skellefteå Konsthall arranges an artist talk with Bea Szenfeld led by Karin Kakan Hermansson.

Bea Szenfeld, born in 1972 in Poland and active in Stockholm, is educated at Beckmans School of Design. Her work has been exhibited at, among others Dunker's kulturhus, Röhsska museet, Liljevalch's konsthall and Somerset House in London and are part of the collections of Statens konstråd, Kulturen i Lund och Nordiska museet among others.
She has received a number of awards, including H&M's design scholarship, TV3 Fashion House, Eye Catcher of the Year at the Elle-Galan and Konstnärsnämndens arbetsstipendium. 

Szenfeld hosted Sommar in Sveriges Radio in the summer of 2014 and was responsible for the artistic design of the Polar Prize ceremony in Stockholm in 2015. She sits, among other things, on the jury for Young Swedish Form and the board of Stockholm's Handicrafts Association. In addition to Haute Papier at Skellefteå Konsthall, she is currently participating with a work in the MET museum's fashion exhibition in NY.

Kakan Hermansson was born in 1981 in Lund and works in Stockholm. Kakan is a trained artist and graduated in ceramics and glass in 2012 at Konstfack, where she is now an assistant professor since 2015. In her artistry, she pursues issues around gender, violence, class and sexuality and was involved in starting the feminist artist group "Den nya kvinnogruppen" which was formed as a backlash against the male art scene. She mainly works in ceramics but also with glass and video.

In addition to her artistry, she is a presenter, lecturer, author and DJ. In 2016, her autobiographical book Hela Kakan came out and in the same year her popular podcast Under the Skin was launched. Since 2008, Kakan has participated in several programs for both television and radio. Together with Julia Frej, she has hosted the talk show Kaka på Kaka, been a jury member in the entertainment program Talang and together with Olof Wretling has played in, among other things, the Christmas calendar and Bye Bye Sweden. In addition to hosting Sommar in P1, she has competed twice in the TV program På spåret together with her father and led the Elle-galan a total of seven times.
