This summer, the Stackgrönnan Boat Museum will be filled with creativity and hands-on fun for children aged around 6 and up.
Among working boats and oars, kids can build their own bark boats, draw sails, and perhaps even try their hand at traditional rope-making – all inspired by the world of boating. With simple materials and big imaginations, every boat becomes a small adventure of its own!
The activities are part of Lilla museet – Skellefteå Museum’s children’s program that encourages playful learning in unique museum environments. In Stackgrönnan, where old working boats and boat engines tell stories of coastal life in earlier times, the summer workshops offer a way to spark curiosity about both technology and tradition.
On selected days, our museum guide Otto Larsson will be on site to lead the activities in a flexible format, adapted to different ages and interests.
Welcome to a summer where imagination sets sail!
Free admission.
Please note: Opening hours for the children’s activities may vary – check the event calendar to see which days they are available.
The boat museum is open every day from 12:00 to 16:00.
This year marks 100 years since Skellefteå Museum moved to Nordanå, then located in the former officer’s residence, Nyborg. We will celebrate with events throughout the year, features on social media, and a grand celebration at Nordanå on September 14.
