Historical food cultivation in Västerbotten

Kulturtrappan, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå

For a long time, the people of Västerbotten were not particularly receptive to starting to grow new things like lettuce or apples, it took a lot of government propaganda to convince the population of the benefits of this. Food cultivation still has ancient roots here, but what was grown back then, and where, when and why? And not least, how was what was grown used? Pernilla Lindström, building antiquarian at Skellefteå Museum and researcher in garden history in northern Sweden tells more.
