When Ellen and Kristopher Vanes decided to leave the village of Stonnall, just north of Birmingham in England, and move to another country, they chose Skellefteå in Sweden.

– Here, there is more focus on family life than in England. Our salaries are higher, the house prices are reasonable and the boys enjoy the Swedish school and preschool much better, says Ellen.

- It was like coming home, he says. I love Norrland, it's a fantastic place, imagine living with the forest so close. We feel at home in Ragvaldsträsk and love this place.

"I'd say we're still going fast. Take Erikslid, for example, which has grown by 450 apartments. The time from when we started work on a new zoning plan to occupancy is 4.5 years. That's incredibly fast considering the size and complexity of building in that area. I would think there are very few places that can match that timeframe in the country, that's probably how fast you can do it,"
