Kågegården

Skellefteå

Kågegården at the Nordanå open-air area is open to the public during the summer season. Step inside and feel the presence of history! The interior reflects the year 1904, when the Lundmark family lived in the house.

Kågegården was originally built in the 18th century, possibly as early as 1721, in Granden, Kåge. It is a timbered pair-cottage, or so-called Västerbottensgård, with an entry chamber. The typical Västerbotten farmhouse was originally one storey but was often extended with an attic level during the 19th century. Open fireplaces provided heating in the kitchen and living room—the rooms used daily. The entry chamber served as a storage space, while the formal room (salen) was used for special occasions.

In 1930, Kågegården became the first building to be relocated to Nordanå. Over time, it has served various purposes—from residential home to exhibition hall, and now a museum. In summer, visitors can experience the soaped wooden floors, the formal room, and the open kitchen—all arranged to reflect daily life in 1904.
