THE DANCE OF DEATH is about artillery captain Edgar and former actress Alice who, after 25 years of a frozen marriage, still live together, embittered by abandoned dreams and lost career opportunities. Through his friend Kurt's visit from America, the dams burst and the discontent wells up.

- The dance of death is a pure masterpiece. Strindberg puts his finger exactly where it does the most evil and turns around with a gleefully satanic mood. The drastic throws in the text create great comedy and life-threatening sudden depths. It's about love, hate, aging and death. Getting to direct this text with these three profoundly talented actors is of course absolutely fantastic, says Stefan Larsson who directs.

In the role of Edgar, Mikael Persbrandt makes his first stage appearance since 2009. It will also be his first role at Maximteatern, which he has run together with producer Agneta Villman since 2012.

In the role of Alice, we see Lena Endre, who last worked with Stefan Larsson in his production of Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey to Night at the Dramaten in 2006. Thomas Hanzon, now current in the role of Kurt, also appeared in Stefan Larsson's production of Fanny and Alexander by Ingmar Bergman at Dramaten 2012.
